Day 4 and we are getting a freeze!
The ground is covered by a very heavy and wet snow so riding will still be hard on your machines. No grooming yet. Last night Chris and Keith had two groomers out flattening and packing Trails 7 and 8 From Shingleton West. We also ran Trail 417 and 418, both of which lack snow on the West half with very rocky and wet conditions (wheels down with no panning). Many large trees were down from Sunday’s storm. Chris took the John Deere with the Dubie Groomers 3-Point Groomer East on Trail 8 and South on Trail 7 to try it out for prepping trails and was very pleased. Overall our preparation results were excellent and as long as no trucks venture onto them we will have a hard flat base by the weekend. Best base results would be from snowmobiles avoiding use this week also.
Today’s forecast is for a sunny 29 degrees and 5 mph SW winds. Temperatures are supposed to continue to drop which will help speed up the freeze. Unfortunately only an inch of snow forecast over the next 5 days.
If you must venture out please ride conservatively and not dig holes when you you accelerate. A hard flat trail base makes for a great season of grooming and riding.
We will continue to do what we can in preparation so stay tuned for updates!
(Today’s photos are from Chris and Keith packing in and working Trails 7, 8, 417 & 418 last night)
